Teachers as Readers Group

Please find the details of our support for Reading for Pleasure. These are free to access and will consist of 6 sessions after school throughout the year. Each session runs from 4-5.30pm on Zoom.

Teachers as Readers Group with the Open University and UKLA which will be run by our Hub Lead, Danni Cooke, and our Hub Literacy Specialist, Rachael Hine (nee Dann).

  • Session 3: 8th December 2021
  • Session 4: 5th January 2022
  • Session 5: 9th March 2022
  • Session 6: 25th May 2022


This is free evidence–based CPD for leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, early years professionals, librarians, reading volunteers and others to enrich their understanding of reading for pleasure (RfP) and how to support it.

The aims of the group are:

  • To foster children’s reading for pleasure through supporting teachers’ /members’ own RfP and research-informed practice;
  • To support the profession by building a professional community around RfP locally and online;
  • To share teachers’ resultant development work on the OU RfP website.

You will be required to attend all meetings and together we will as part of the group you will be completing some research with a small group of children around the Open University research and examples of practice.
