All Saints’ Thurlestone receives Food for Life Bronze Award

All Saints’ Thurlestone C of E Academy, which is part of the Learning Academy Partnership, has been awarded the Food for Life Bronze Award for its healthy and climate-friendly food culture.

The school is working with Food for Life to transform the school’s food culture and that of its local community, by connecting the children with climate-friendly and healthy food.

As part of the Bronze Award scheme, All Saints’ Thurlestone C of E Academy serves seasonal school meals from their in-house kitchen, 75% of which are freshly prepared by an experienced school chef/cook.

The Trust’s Catering Lead, Linda Keiller, works closely with the school, children and parents so everyone is involved in making improvements to the school’s menu and dining experience giving a whole school approach to food not just the lunch provision.

The school also gives every child the opportunity to visit a farm, cook and participate in food growing activities during his or her time at school. All Saints’ Thurlestone are now working towards a Silver Award for the next academic year.
