Pupils across Torquay take part in an exciting gymnastics festival

Pupils at Ilsham Church of England Academy and Warberry Church of England Academy, which are both a part of the Learning Academy Partnership, were given the opportunity to take part in an exciting gymnastics festival.

The festival had been organised by the P.E. department at The Spires College in Torquay, who invited Year 6 children from across the South Devon area to take part in a day of gymnastics in order to help the pupils get active and learn all about the sport.

In order to ensure that as many pupils could attend as possible, the festival was held virtually, with Miss Worden from Spires being beamed into all the school halls.

The children practised a range of key skills while earning points towards medals. They were also given the opportunity to create their own gymnastic routines and showcase what they had learnt.

The children really enjoyed the festival, while the academies were really excited to see other Year 6 pupils from across the Trust taking part together: it gave the event a real sense of community.

Tracey Cleverly, Trust Lead at the Learning Academy Partnership, said:

“The gymnastics festival was a fantastic success and such a fun and exciting way to encourage our pupils to get active. Each of our academies is extremely grateful to The Spires College for the wonderful session and the opportunity to bring our pupils together.

“Across our Trust, our academies are dedicated to working as a collective to create unique opportunities for pupils to become well-rounded individuals.”
