We are committed to delivering a new school for Paignton, however it is with regret that we have to announce that due to COVID-19 and the difficulty in delivering capital projects, the opening of St Michael’s Church of England Academy is being deferred until September 2021.
Whilst every option has been considered, regrettably, in these unprecedented times and circumstances which are out of our control, it is now not possible for the temporary units to be provided by the contractor for September 2020. We have been informed by the Department for Education that St Michael’s is one of a number of new school projects nationally which will be deferred.
We understand that this will be disappointing news for our local community and having worked so closely with so many families, we want to reassure you that we continue to work closely with the Local Authority and the Department for Education to provide a new school and nursery for September 2021.
