Outstanding SIAMS at Thurlestone

The Learning Academy Partnership is thrilled to announce that Thurlestone All Saints’ C of E Academy have been rated Outstanding in their recent SIAMS inspection.

The inspection of the academy on 28th November 2017, also involved the views of a range of children, parents, staff and Trustees.

The inspector agreed that the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Thurlestone All Saints’ C of E Academy as a Church of England school are outstanding in all of the four areas inspected – Christian Distinctiveness, Collective Worship, the teaching and learning of Religious Education and Leadership and Management.

Strengths included that the leaders and managers are passionate about the school’s Christian vision and ensure that it has meaning and purpose for all members of the school community.  Acts of worship are inspirational and give children experiences in which they confidently explore faith and belief.

He agreed that the school’s values lie at the heart of how they, as a community coming together, empower children to aspire to excellence in their learning. At the root of these values is an understanding that education is concerned with ‘transforming children’s lives’.

Religious education makes a significant contribution to the children’s developing spiritual, moral, social and cultural education. It does this very effectively by encouraging children to reflect on what they learn in RE through the school’s values and this enhances their understanding and appreciation of faith and belief.

Mrs Rowe Jones, Executive Headteacher for Thurlestone All Saints’, said: “Since joining the Learning Academy Partnership our academy has benefited from the wealth of expertise across the Trust.  This support has enabled us to develop a more meaningful ethos, and all members of our community recognise the positive difference in our academy.”

The Archdeacon is due to visit Thurlestone All Saints’ C of E Academy to present them with their Outstanding certificate (date to be confirmed).
