Inspirational new C of E Primary Academy in Paignton

Learning Academy Partnership school child

We are thrilled to announce that the Department for Education have approved the Learning Academy Partnership to open a new Church of England Primary Academy in Paignton to help address the shortage of pupil places within local schools, where many across Torbay are over subscribed.

The development of new schools for Paignton is excellent news for our communities, existing local primary schools and especially for all  local parents as additional places will reduce the pressure on all individual schools allowing greater parental choice.  It should also mean that parents  living close to a school or with a sibling already attending will be more likely to get their 1st choice of school in the future.

The  Learning Academy Partnership School have an outstanding track record of delivering an exceptional education rooted in local communities.  We passionately believe that every young person should have an entitlement to a happy, outstanding education, taught by excellent teachers, enjoying an inspirational curriculum that challenges potential. A place where children’s unique talents are nurtured, where expectations are exceeded, children flourish and life chances are transformed.

Our new academy will serve all children in the local community and will welcome those of all faiths and those of none.

Learning Academy Partnership - Mrs AtkinsonLynn Atkinson, Chief Executive of The Learning Academy Partnership said:

“This is a very exciting time for education in Torbay. I would especially like to thank local parents as we have been overwhelmed by their support to establish a Learning Academy Partnership academy and an additional Church of England academy for Paignton. We are delighted, therefore, to be given the green light to open a new academy for Paignton families by the Department for Education.

We passionately believe that every young person should have an entitlement to a happy, outstanding education, taught by excellent teachers, enjoying an inspirational curriculum that challenges potential. A place where children’s unique talents are nurtured, where expectations are exceeded, children flourish and life chances are transformed.

We know that this can be best achieved by working together, across our academies, with parents, our communities, the Diocese and with our secondary school partners.

Together we can empower excellence and enrich communities so that more and more young people’s life chances are improved.”

John Searson, the Director of Education for the Diocese of Exeter said:

‘I am delighted that the children, families and local community will now have the offer of a high quality Church of England Primary Academy available to them. Church of England schools serve the whole community irrespective of personal faith. The Learning Academy Partnership provides educational opportunities that are already transforming lives and I have every confidence that this new free school will thrive under their aspirational leadership.’

Andy Dempsey, Director of Children’s Services of Torbay Local Authority said:

“This announcement offers a fantastic opportunity to develop a new school for the Paignton community. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Learning Academy Partnership (South West) to help bring forward high quality provision for our children.  The positive decision by the Department for Education is a clear endorsement of the work undertaken by the council and local educational providers to identify the need for new places within this locality.”
